The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. John 3:31-32
John the Baptist got it right about heaven and heavenly things. Jesus knew what heaven was like because He created it all. What was it like to come from something so majestic to something so dirty and dingy? We should still marvel at the graciousness of God. It’s not like Earth was some special treat for Him. Think of it like going to the world’s most horrendous vacation spot, and having to stay there for 33 years. In this vacation spot, up is down, wrong is right, and left is right. It’s dark with literally no redeeming qualities. Now ask yourself this, why would you even want to go there, much less go there for a third of a century? Answer: you wouldn’t.
Multiply that concept by a thousandfold and you might have an inkling of what the Savior did for us by coming to Earth.
Oh, and this love He had for us? No, I don’t get it either.
