Why do we have anxious thoughts? What are we anxious about?

Actually, we have a lot to be anxious about if we want to be. High crime, upcoming elections, culture rot, drugs on the streets, sin in the church, breakdown in the inner cities, racial tensions, and a collapsing dollar are fairly good reasons to lose sleep over.

But make no mistake: God is still on the throne. He has never left. He’s not going away. He’ll never go away. We glance at all of those issues, and when prompted, lift those issues up in prayer before Almighty God. None of those issues (and the millions of others out there) has ever taken God by surprise, and they never will.

So, tonight as you lay your head on your pillow, relax. Don’t worry.

God’s got it all under control.
