Drawing Nigh

11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. 2 Thessalonians 3:11-13

Verse 13 is interesting in this context. Paul was saying to them, “Yes, there will be those who go about doing what they want when they want, but you don’t have to be like that.”

This verse reminds us that we are not alone in this battle. Continuing to do good is the best path to take even when you see others misusing the grace they’ve been given. It merely SEEMS like you’re the only one doing what is right. There may even be times you’re mocked and mistreated for being Mr. or Mrs. Goody Two Shoes. You don’t watch the programs others watch or listen to the music that some listen to. That’s perfectly fine. You are doing what you need to do, and you will be rewarded for it.

Let me write it again, you’re not alone. Millions around the world are with you in this struggle, making the most of every opportunity. Hang in there; your “redemption is drawing nigh.” Luke 21:28
