12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12
When Paul wrote this, he was nearing the end of his life. It was a long and fruitful life, yet full of pain and suffering.
He encouraged Timothy to press on even when it looked dim. There are things in life worth fighting for, and our faith is one of them. The eternal life he spoke about is within reach of us all. It’s nearer than we think. Every week it seems a friend or acquaintance from my past has passed into eternity.
What’s it like? What’re they doing right this very minute? What is this eternal life like when we’re gone? We get glimpses of it in Scripture but certainly not the full story. By design.
I would encourage you as you read this, think about eternity and heaven. Think about those loved ones who have gone ahead of you.
Rejoice in your Salvation!
