Focus Focus

I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. Romans 1:14-15

Paul felt compelled to reach out to whomever he could. He was an intelligent man and could go toe to toe with the elite of his day. He also had a soft spot for those who were rejected by society. He was clearly “all things to all people.”

In verse 15 Paul states his purpose for being in Rome: to preach the Gospel. It’s his single-minded focus that we should note.

In the 1980s, Billy Graham went to Russia to visit the church there. Many thought he was selling out or endangering the true believers there, and thought he was naive for doing it. Later I read in his autobiography that he went to Russia to preach, to the White House under numerous presidents…to preach. Wherever he went, his focus was the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That was what Billy Graham did, and throughout the course of his life, he did just that over and over again.

What is your single-minded focus? Do you have just one? Or like some of us, do you have a variety of focuses?
