8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1 Peter 5:8-9
These are sound and wise verses as the New Year begins. We face many challenges and temptations in life. We need reminders that the devil hates Christians and will do what is necessary to bring them down.
Know that in 2019 you are not alone in your struggle against the enemy. You may seem like you are, but everyone things that way, including those who are undergoing the kinds of sufferings Peter is talking about here. We all have our doubts and fears especially when we’re under attack.
Go to God often, more often than you think you should. Do as the previous verse told us: cast all your cares on Him. The more we lean on Him in 2019, the less stress, anxiety and pressure we’ll feel. The converse is also true: the less we trust, the more we become anxious and worrisome.
Happy New Year!
