To show partiality is not good—yet a person will do wrong for a piece of bread. Proverbs 28:21
Let’s face it, we are partial people. We favor someone because we’re friends or relatives with them. We may even favor them because of their skin color or good looks or size of the bank account. It is extremely difficult for us to do otherwise. Why kid ourselves?
But there is One who is not impartial. There is One who will judge not according to riches or fame or skin color or birth pedigree. There is One who will judge you and me fairly. We will marvel for centuries at His fairness and equity. If at this point you are in doubt as to whom I refer, it’s God the Father.
God will look upon our sin and inequity and dole our fair punishment. If we have been born again, then we have Jesus himself as our advocate, our defense lawyer, as it were. Obviously – obviously – we couldn’t do it on our own or on our own merits, because the Bible says our righteousness is like filthy rags. We needed one to bridge that gap between Heaven and Hell, between the just and the unjust.
On that day we will be extremely grateful for that faith decision we made when we believed.
