4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Timothy 4:1
Paul closed this letter with a charge, something he did quite often. The precursor to the charge is full of meaty theology.
Have you ever considered that phrase of “in the presence of God and man?” We use it in English quite often. Paul, however, I believe truly meant it. As he was writing this letter, the Spirit of God breathed into those words. He was truly in God’s presence when he wrote this.
And we truly are in God’s presence when we read those words. In fact, we’re in His presence every moment of the day. There’s never a time we’re not in His presence. Let that sink in. In fact, I will end this devotional with that thought.
Know that God Almighty, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are with you today. What does that mean? What will you say and do differently knowing that truth?
