3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3
No one I know would admit they have itching ears even if they had itching ears. It’s hard to define but you know them when you see them.
We live in a world where people get bored easily. When we get bored, we drift. We wan
t something more exciting than what we have now. The preaching and teaching in our church isn’t quite enough so we go elsewhere. After all, there’s got to be more to life than doing the 9 to 5, eating, sleeping, and doing it all over again the next day. That’s where the health
and wealth preachers come into play. They’ll offer you so much more, plus they’ll base it on the Bible. Examine their own lives and you’ll see avarice and greed gone wild. They’re flashy with their money and want more of yours, doing it all in the name of the Lord. The unfortunate thing is, they’ll find willing ears to hear what they have to say. What’s not to love about the evangelist’s teaching?
Brothers and Sisters, be content with what you have. Don’t go flocking to the greedy Evangelist of the Week. They’ll take your money on one day and laugh at you the next. This is where the internet is an invaluable resource for people who aren’t quite sure about a person. A little research will go a long way. If they’re frauds, someone will have noticed and exposed them. But the bottom line is: Be Content.
