It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. John 13:1

Within the first 12 chapters of John, Jesus spent three years ministering to people. One day we will know for certain, but I wonder what it was like to know what heaven is all about and to live your life as a pauper on Earth for 33 years. What was it like to be the Living Word of God and Co-Creator of the universe and to have your creation mock you your entire life on that Earth? What self-constol He must have exerted not to call down fire from Heaven when we his subjects ridiculed him.

His time had come. The next few days would be excruciating.
But it would be the reason He came in the first place: to redeem mankind, through absolutely no effort on their own, but on the back of the Savior.

Literally.

Today as you consider these words, thank God for the wondrous work of Salvation and Grace in our lives. Freely given. At a tremendous cost.
