Mercy Sakes Alive

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions. Psalm 51:1

Mercy is defined as God not giving us what we deserve. In David’s case, he was a rapist and murderer. In that culture he would have been sentenced to death for his crimes, but because he was the king and only one other person knew of his sins, the judges of his day couldn’t try or sentence him.

The Apostle Paul lamented that he was the worse of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15).

In both cases, though, God had mercy. God spared them both.

Fortunately for us, God still has mercy. Every single day he shows His mercy.

Today as you begin your day, consider the ways He has mercy on your life. Consider the sin He has forgiven and the steps He has made to secure fellowship with you.
