A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Proverbs 31:10

As men, all too often we take our wives for granted. We don’t, as this Scripture encourages us to do, treasure them far more than rubies. It’s a pity if you think about it.

This verse is setting us up for the remaining verses in this chapter that primarily deal with her and her character. But we should seriously consider the implications of this verse before moving forward.

Gentlemen, forget for a moment petty annoyances and her not meeting your standards for the perfect wife (if you think you’re the perfect husband and have no foibles, then we probably need to talk).

Even if you have a great relationship and everything is “hunky-dory”, how would it change things around your home if you valued her more than rubies? What would that look like in your family? Would she notice the difference? Would your children and family and friends notice the difference? Only you can answer that, and only you can treat her as the beautiful jewel she is.
