9 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him. Luke 2:39-40
Fortunately for us, the birth of Christ was only the beginning of Christ’s life here on earth as a man. It was an important beginning but it was still the beginning.
We really don’t know much from his birth to twelve years old and then until he was 30. He played. He laughed. He did chores. He cried. He loved. He experienced life as we know it but was without sin.
But it all began on that Christmas morning. Born to a virgin, just as it was foretold.
The ongoing story is one of rebirth and newness of life. The greace of God was on Him as He grew. So too the grace of God is on us as we grow in Christ.
Take time today to read through the Christmas story. Sure you’ve heard it for 30 or 40 years. Ask God to be refreshed because of its timeless message. Take time to empathize with the lowly characters: shepherds, wise men, Mary, Joseph, the inn keeper.
