The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction. Proverbs 16:21

Much of discernment comes from experience, which is sometimes called the School of Hard Knocks. Sometimes it may be “just a feeling” you have about something, a hunch so to speak. I used to think that the older we get the more we’d be able to make decisions quicker. For some that may be true, but unfortunately it’s not that way for me.

Most of the time we don’t know the right thing to do so we pray.

We pray that the Lord would give us the mind of Christ in different matters.

We pray that we make the right decisions even with little information to make an informed choice.

We pray that God would bless that decision; and if it’s the wrong one, that He will get us back on track quickly.
