second prophets, 1 Corinthians 12:28
This gift is closely aligned if not identical to the gift of prophecy in verse 10 above. It’s great to have true prophets of God among us, but it’s so rare. Unfortunately, true prophets do not advertise their status and don’t really care about the praise of people. And because of their honest message, they probably don’t make friends easily.
Both the Old and New Testaments warn us about false prophets. They will work among us and tell us what we want to hear. The Bible calls that “tickling our ears.”
As the Day of our Lord approaches, we need fearless men and women of God who proclaim the Word of the Lord clearly and deliberately. God used prophets in the past, and I believe He’ll continue to raise up select individuals to fill this role. Pray that He will continue to raise up these prophets through the new generation of Believers.
