The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright. Proverbs 29:27
As a rule, the good detest the evil because dishonesty is (1) a trait they don’t want to have or (2) a life they’ve come from/they’re trying to forget.
The evil detest the honest because their uprightness highlights their guilt. You see it all the time when a criminal informs on his partners in exchange for a lighter sentence. The partners hate the informant because it means their sentence will be heavier. Many times the burden of the informant is lifted, even though their life is now in danger.
Perhaps you’re dealing with a burden of dishonesty in your own walk with Christ. Confess it today and lay it at the feet of Jesus.
