8 In the hand of the Lord is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs. Psalm 75:8
Previous verses talk about pride and arrogance and this continues the thread. The Lord lets the wicked do whatever they want, and in fact shows the wicked the worst of the wine. You may ask why the Lord does this. Being arrogant they believe they can do anything they want without repercussions. The Lord is leading them to the ultimate conclusion: that their pride that they are so proud of is their downfall.
For years I’ve heard the “joke” that “I want to go to hell because that’s where all my friends will be.” The reality of that statement is that hell will most certainly be a lonely place. There will be no one to save despite the pitiful and loud cries for help. There will be no way to escape His wrath at that point. For the proud, it will be too late.
Perhaps there’s someone in your life who has “joked” like that. Pray that the Lord will break through before it’s too late.
