“But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”
Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light. It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.” John 11:8-10
To emphasize yesterday’s devotional, everywhere Jesus goes, he’s in control. Yes he escaped when they were after him. And yes, oddly enough, Jesus was in full control, when the leaders hauled him away to stand before Pontius Pilate and ultimately be crucified. In fact, you could easily make a point that he exercised great control in allowing them to do that!
It’s certainly not how we would have done it. But that’s fine, because we’re not the Creator of the Universe.
In what area of your life, does Jesus need to exercise complete control over? It could be addictions, stress, peer pressure, anger, depression, a wayward child, or just plain doubt. It’s not enough to turn something over to Christ once. For some it is, but for many others it’s a daily struggle.
Fortunately, though, we have a Daily Saviour.
