If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
For the believer, this is an important verse.
While our eternal salvation has been settled at the foot of the cross, our fellowship with God is affected when we sin. Cleansing must take place.
We do that through confession. We admit the specifics of our sin to God the Father. He then cleanses us. Living in a fallen world, we are prone to sin more than we care to admit.
But we can and should renew that relationship afresh when we confess. It’s not easy, but it is a daily and necessary discipline for certain.
