A fool’s mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. Proverbs 18:7
“. . .his lips are a snare to his soul.” I am reminded of the phrase “the eyes are a window to the soul” because often you can see what is inside a person as you peer into his eyes. The fool’s lips, though, are a snare, a trap. Occasionally we get glimpses into that soul by way of the mouth. Visit a nursing home and you’ll find out quickly what’s been hidden inside someone’s soul for years, both good and bad. In fact, what’s been hidden may be shouted from the rooftops when you begin losing your faculties.
Is that a scary thought for you?
Today, as you consider these words, ask God to help you with your words and ultimately with your thoughts. Again, train yourself to fill your mind with goodness and the Word of God.
