A Little Bumpy But Still Under Control

2 He is my loving God and my fortress,
my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield, in whom I take refuge,
who subdues peoples under me. Psalm 144:2

As the rhetoric heats up between the two presidential candidates, so it goes among their supporters. With Clinton supporters referring to Trump as a “literal” Hitler, and Trump supporters viewing Clinton as a “disaster,” the talk will probably go beyond talk. Already blood has been shed at Trump rallies, and I don’t see it improving over the next two weeks.

Putin has asked his administration officials to bring their families back from overseas locations. The potential for war is escalating. Then there’s Syria, Israel, China, the Philippines, North Korea, ISIS, and Muslim immigration in the news, it should be an interesting end to 2016!

it’s very easy, then, to get entwined in the “the sky is falling” fears. Yes, there is a lot to be fearful of.

Except that God has everything under control. Nothing will surprise Him. He’s not shocked that His creation is in such a bad state! And I don’t think He’s particularly worried about it. We do need to run to Him when we become disheartened and discouraged about world events, but worry? Life’s too short for that.

As airline pilots say before they fly through turbulence, “Buckle up, folks, it could get a little bumpy.” Experienced pilots know that turbulence is just part of the journey. They’re not fearful that the plane will fall apart while they’re at the helm. They will do what they can to reassure their passengers that everything is absolutely under control.

Yes, it will probably get a little bumpy these next few weeks, but He’s got it under control.
