33 He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” Matthew 13:33
This parable seems to pinpoint the need for the Church or people in the church to have a subtle yet noticeable influence on society.
As each of us “do our part,” society becomes less harsh, more forgiving, and slows down the spread of evil.
If, however, we don’t do our part, then society enhances its demise, something we are seeing as I write this.
Have Christians shirked their responsibility in the world or has society just bent on destroying itself?
It could be a bit of both.
As I’ve stated in the previous devotionals on the parables, we still can and should influence people. It would be crazy to think we can influence the entire culture, but God has one or two people in our sphere of influence for His glory.
Pray and ask God how you can best influence those people.
