“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” John 6:67-69

In a moment of clarity, Simon Peter gets it and realizes the truth. Throughout the Gospels, and especially as we approach the crucifixion, we’ll see Peter waver in that belief. I think he was trying to wrap his mind around what was going on around him, trying to capture the incredibleness of Jesus in the midst of the confusing voices of his Jewish leaders.

We too have moments of clarity which we like to refer to as “AHA moments.” Those are the times when the light bulb in side our heads click on because we can decipher a little bit of what we’re being presented with. Like Peter, we also have those moments of doubt, when the chaos around us seems to be winning, and we just can’t find God in the midst.

Fortunately we’re in the same boat together, as it were, because we all have those doubts. All of us.

But it’s these moments of doubt that draw us closer to God because then we can study and learn even a little bit more of God’s ways. We will not ever fully comprehend God or His ways but anything that draws us closer to Him is a good thing.

Clarity does this; believe it or not, doubt does too.
