Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 1 Timothy 3:1
A relative of mine told me that a preaching professor told him this: “if you want to do anything else in life instead of being a pastor, do it.”
The implication is that there is a lot of hard work, hardship, dedication, and heartache involved in the pastorate. From those I have spoken with who are doing it not, this is the truth. While you and I will never know the sleepless nights they face, the discouragement they sometimes feel, and non-normal schedules they keep, those who do it do it out of love for people and the Word of God. It’s a calling on their lives.
I will be writing about the lives of pastors and their families over the next few days.
Bless your pastor and his family today.
