11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day. Matthew 28:11-15
As stated earlier, the penalty for sleeping as a sentry or allowing the one being guarded escape was the death penalty. Even if they told their story, many would find it fishy because why would leadership let them all get away with sleeping on the job. Not just one or two guards but four guards and probably three or four watches in the night.
Muslims also claim that Jesus was rescued. Some say from the cross and others say from the grave.
No, he couldn’t be explained away because no grave was going to hold him there.
He’s free from the chains of death, free as a bird and no one would ever close to stopping Him.
Death couldn’t hold him.
Four guards and a large boulder couldn’t hold him.
The armies at the gates of Hell couldn’t hold him down.
As the kid song goes,
Alive, alive, alive forevermore
My Jesus is alive, alive forevermore
Alive, alive, alive forevermore
My Jesus is alive
Sing hallelujah, sing hallelujah
My Jesus is alive forevermore
Sing hallelujah, sing hallelujah
My Jesus is alive
