But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Romans 5:15-17
Through the trespass of one man, Adam, many died. We can blame Adam for the sin that entered the world. It was a perfect, pristine world. He sinned and we all must pay for it.
We can’t pin it all on Adam though because as is the theme through this chapter, we all sinned. It all started with Adam.
Through the life of one man, Jesus Christ, many live.
Think it’s an exaggeration? Though we don’t see it much in our churches nowadays, people are having their lives changed around the world.
Every. Single. Day.
The Holy Spirit is still changing lives from South Africa to Russia, from Alaska to Albania. We may not see it because our media isn’t exactly thrilled about it, but God is still changing lives and bringing people back from the dead both literally and figuratively.
One man with one purpose continues to change lives despite having lived only 33 years on Earth. Rejoice today for your brothers and sisters worldwide. You may never see them but they exist and are as vibrant today as the early Church was in the Book of Acts. Hallelujah!
