All Kinds…

All Kinds…

16 “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

17 “‘We played the pipe for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.’

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” Matthew 11:16-18

John the Baptist and Jesus were the opposite sides on a social spectrum but they were both criticized by the same people but for different reasons.

Jesus is ultimately saying, “Don’t judge people by what you see. Look at their actions.”

Lots of people love the Lord but have very different approaches to the Gospel message than you or me. Recall the story of the punk rock bar we preached outside on in Chicago. If there was a church made up of Christian punk rockers, they would stun most Christian circles we run in, but if they believe in Christ they’re just as welcome in our churches as the straight-laced accountant.

In Texas there are churches for motorcyclists and cowboys (not the team but the job), two people groups that we probably can’t relate to, but those who attend can (or would like to).

Glory to God!

God is building His kingdom with a variety of people from all walks of life and all people groups. When we get to Heaven, we will see the diversity of people there in a very real sense of the word.
