Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:9-11
Hidden within these rich verses on security and life is a prophecy fulfilled by Jesus: nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
Acts 2:31-32 is the fulfillment of that verse:
Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.
After all these years the Bible should still amaze us. The Old Testament foretold of more than 350 prophecies that would Jesus would fulfilled. The verse above is one such verse.
Take a moment to marvel at the Word of God, the Bible. Yes, it’s a book that is banned in the public arena and in schools, but we should never abandoned it.
