13 “You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13
This is an easy enough command until you get to the New Testament and Jesus tells that anyone who has hatred in his heart and has thought about murder has already committed it in his heart.
Guilty as charged. Every single one of us.
That sin of hatred creeps up on us on occasion, and it becomes necessary to eradicate it yet again. Getting at the root of the hatred is significant.
What causes it? What triggers it?
Because of our sin nature, we’ll have those tendencies at times. Our desire to become bitter and hate should lesson over time, but it’s latent and ready to rear its ugly head at the first opportunity.
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
