By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away! 2 I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 2 Corinthians 10:1-3
Just a gentle reminder that we are at war. The enemy is unseen and uses other people to wage war against us. We didn’t choose the battle, but we must fight it. In the next few verses we’ll discuss how and when we fight these battles, but for now just know that the enemy doesn’t give up just because we do. He is relentless and will use anything he can to sabotage your walk with Christ. If that sounds serious, it’s because it is very serious. It’s light and death serious. Don’t lose heart just because that’s true.
Know that we have an advocate ready to help us in the battle.
