Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended. Proverbs 22:10

Mockers in this world are a million to one. We all do it from time to time, some in more subtle ways than others. The world certainly doesn’t need more ways to mock or more mockers.

When I was growing up going to Scout camp, one of the teen leaders mentioned that he and his friend pretty much mocked every single Scoutmaster that came through the camp doors. I thought it was an odd boast at the time, and 30 years later think it odder still. Did their mocking help anyone at any time? Absolutely not. And obviously they were not showing true leadership to impressionable Scouts like me.

It’s all in the attitude, really. Sure, what you say about others in the negative could have a lasting effect on that person. However, I don’t recall a single thing those two leaders said about those Scoutmasters. I do know that what they said was not kind or encouraging.
