Be Holy in All You Do

14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:14-15

Holiness seems to be an elusive topic in the Church today.

Most clergy and lay people would say they believe in it, but it just isn’t taught or preached a lot anymore.

Holiness is ridiculed from within. We hear phrases like “holier than tho,u” and the word holy is often paired with the most ungodly terms as mere expressions. Holy Cow! is the tamest of those expression and oddly enough has Hindu ties. Still, it’s profaning holiness.

Very few aspire to be holy. Happy, content, and satisfied, yes, but rarely holy. Have we lost our way or is there something else at work?

The Bible says, “So be holy in all you do.”

It’s a pretty straight forward admonition.
