25 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Philemon 25
Paul’s closing prayer is very common and typical of his benedictions: short and to the point. Just because it’s short, don’t dismiss the power it has when people pray it over others. As you may well know, I am a big fan of committing these short verses to memory for the express purpose of praying it over others. This is a verse for those who say they can’t memorize. Ten minutes tops for most reading this. Then it’s in your mind and heart for a long long time. God will use it if you let him. Memorizing Scripture is a powerful act in the life of the Believer. It’s the Eternal Word of God you are poring into your soul.
Take the few minutes today to memorize this verse. Repeat it a dozen times this morning and a dozen times tonight, and you really should have it memorized. Tomorrow when you wake up, repeat it another dozen times. Now personalize it and repeat it over someone’s life. Praying God’s Word back to him is as pure as prayer gets. Be amazed at what God will do with this act of memorization.
