Let us examine our ways and test them,
and let us return to the Lord.
41 Let us lift up our hearts and our hands
to God in heaven, and say:
42 “We have sinned and rebelled
and you have not forgiven.” Lamentations 3:40-42
New Year’s celebrations are all about new beginnings. Out goes the old; in comes the new. Yesterday we talked about resetting.
Following that thought, we need to take time to examine our lives and turn to God. For some it’s not that much of a change; for others, it’s a return.
When we consider that our life is truly in His hands, the decisions we make become a bit – just a bit – easier. That’s why we are able to raise our hands to Him for His help. We do this, not because we have to, but because we need to. When we get to the point where we don’t need Him, it spells trouble for us.
Anything that happens in life that draw us closer to Him – including hardship – is a good thing.
So, in the spirit of resolutions, resolve to draw near to Him at least once a day. And then do it the next day. And the next. Pretty soon it’ll become a habit worth having. But it starts with today.
Today.
