11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
The political and religious leaders in Jesus’ day should have known Him, but didn’t. They had all the signs recorded in the Old Testament and they knew their Scriptures, at least the religious rulers did. Even when He told them who He was, they rejected Him but could find no reason to do so.
But Scripture is clear that people did receive Him, both Jew and Gentile. Those who had the faith to believe He was who He said He was were children of God. That’s the Good News right there. We were born of God. that is a powerful statement and one we shouldn’t take lightly or for granted.
Thank God wherever you are today for His goodness in allowing us to be children of God. He is a good God.
