Blinders

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:30-31

We have no idea what other kinds of miracles and signs Jesus performed, but we have enough information to make an informed decision about this man.

Normally, in Western culture people have enough information to make an informed decision. They may have grown up in Church, hearing Bible stories and singing Bible songs, so they usually are without excuse.

In the past I’ve heard people reject Christ because “how could a compassionate God send people to hell?” or “what about those who don’t believe?” or other similar statements that had absolutely no bearing on their own belief. Those kinds of questions call us to look deeper into their rejection. What if you could give them a satisfactory answer to their questions, would they then believe? Maybe, but probably not. Essentially it boils down to this: the Bible tells us that Satan has “blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:4

Our task, then, is to pray that those blinders come off so they can see the light of the gospel.
