Brevity of Time and the Patience of God

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:8-9

This is an interesting passage because it reminds us about the brevity of time and the Lord’s patience. God exists beyond the boundaries of time. What is an hour or a year or even a century to Him? We are forced to mark the time because it makes sense.

So, when we state about the injustices occurring and Him not doing anything about it, it’s a false premise. If God is outside of town, then what we perceive as quick or slow means nothing to Him.

Sometimes it’s fun to just consider the possibilities of God. Of course we do not know His limitations except that he has none.

The injustices and abuses and corruption we see all around us will be handled in accordance with His time schedule, whatever that is.

We don’t understand it, and that’s probably half the point. We will, however, marvel when it all comes together, as they say, in the bye and bye.
