30 Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations.
Humbled, may the beast bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. Psalm 68:30
It’s apparent that bullies have been around since this was written (“herd of bulls among the calves of the nations”). Many are now trying to crack down on them in the schools because they think it’s a rather new phenomenon.
Peoples can be bullies and so can leaders. Nations do it at the behest of its power-hungry leaders. Eventually, though, those bullies lose their edge and are humiliated. Leaders and their nations go that way as well though they don’t think it will ever happen.
The biggest bully “on the block” these days is ISIS, that ruthless and violent group of Islamic terrorists. They are killing, maiming, raping, kidnapping, and destroying with impunity, that is, apparent impunity. Until nations and militaries rise against them en masse, they will continue their murderous ways unabated. But even so, their power is very fleeting. Their treacherous bullying tactics are working…for now. Very soon many of them will be face to face with God Almighty. There will be no fanfare, celebrations, or 72 virgins awaiting them as the Koran tells hem. There will only be an eternity of hell, death, and punishment.
In the mean time, though, it’s important for those of us in the West to stand with those Believers who are losing their lives at the swords of Isis. They need our prayers and any support we can give them. They are on the “front lines” of Christianity, and are not backing down. Praise God for those who hear the clear call of God on their lives, and are willing to risk it all for His sake!
