But We Will

Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:7

We don’t see the peace that this verse mentions, but we will. We don’t see the justice or righteousness that the writer talks about, but we will.

What we do see now is pretty much the opposite, don’t we? Consider the wars in the world. At any given moment there are dozens of wars and skirmishes going on. We certainly don’t see true justice, even among the best of our judges and courts.

And righteousness? Sin is flaunted in the streets in most countries of the world. Criminals are coddled, and victims are mocked and humiliated in the process.

So, why the disconnect? Why the apparent contradiction? Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall. Governments come and go, many of them are destroyed inwardly due to their own arrogance and conceit. We haven’t seen true justice, righteousness, or peace. But we will.

The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
