Civil Disobedience

15 The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, 16 “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” 17 The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. 18 Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?” Exodus 1:15-18

This seems to be the first case of civil disobedience recorded in the Bible. What is it with leaders who want to slaughter the unborn and newborn? Unfortunately it’s not a new phenomena in the West. It’s been going on for 4000 years at least. Satan hates children. He hates their laughter. He hates the smiles on their faces. He hates them even being born. I have long ago determined that the reckless slaughter of the unborn in this country is a spiritual problem more than it is a moral one (though to my mind it is a moral, ethical, and criminal matter as well as a spiritual issue). The Spirit of this World has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe.

Will you pray with me?

Lord Jesus,
The spirit of this age has in fact blinded the minds of those who are his. He has blinded them to obvious logic and rationality. He hates them and what they stand for, but as long as they are doing his bidding, he tolerates them.

Mostly, though, he hates us. He hates children and what they bring to this world. I pray for the plight of the unborn. Lord, we know that you love them dearly but the liar has blinded the adults to the truth. Open their eyes. Let them be exposed. Eliminate this terrible crime of abortion. Deal swiftly with “doctors” who perform this horrible injustice. Protect these little ones. We pray that you would confuse the minds of abortion clinics management. Confuse them and what they’re trying to achieve. Even if you can protect just one little one through this confusion, please do so.

And Lord, for those we know who are little and still unspoiled and innocent, protect them. Put your angels around them. Let them grow up in peace and joy.

In Jesus name, Amen.
