An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. Proverbs 12:13
Have you as a Believer ever “walked right into” something you just knew would be difficult to get out of. Normally I realize it as it’s coming out of my mouth, and by then it’s too late to do anything about it. So the principle in today’s verse isn’t exactly reserved for the evil man. Though to be fair, when you “walk right into it” you may not be saying anything sinful; it may merely be saying something unkind or the words come out wrong or something totally unintentional.
We do need to keep a close watch over what we say because we do say some hurtful things, and often without meaning it. In fact, it’s a prayer that we should be praying daily because of the tendency we have of blurting things out.
