Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Psalm 97:2
No one has ever seen God face to face. His brilliance would blind them. The Psalmist wants us to know that even if we were to get a glimpse of the Lord, here would still be thick darkness surrounding Him. So we might get a glimpse of that brilliance but it is still much darker than if we saw Him face to face.
Many times in the Bible righteousness and justice appear together. God’s perfect righteousness demands perfect justice.
Again we get a glimpse at that judgment here on Earth, but only a glimpse.
I asked this question the other day, and it bears repeating: what does perfect justice look like? Would we recognize it if we ever saw it?
