Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

This is perhaps a pretty good verse to memorize because it has a solution with benefits all rolled into 14 words.

As Moses has pointed out throughout this Psalm, our days on this planet are short. Every year in December we say, “this year went fast.” The years go faster the older we get. With each day passing, it’s one day closer to eternity for all of us.

It’s easy to see how we would gain a heart of wisdom just by keeping accounts of our days. Throughout any given day we stray, wander, daydream, and get lazy about life. It’s like we’re coasting through life.

Teach us, O Lord to number our days because we do want to gain that heart of wisdom. We do want to make the most of our time on this planet.

Commit this verse to memory. It will only take you 10 times reading it over and over again to memorize it.
