Competence

4 Such confidence we have through Christ before God. 5 Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6

If you’ve ever felt that you can’t minister to people on the street or in nursing homes or in the nursery, it is just not true. As ministers of the Gospel, we are competent. Christ has made us competent. We don’t need to worry about flowerly language or eloquent speech. What we have and what we say is competent enough for Kingdom work!

So many will say they don’t feel adequate enough to preach and teach. But it’s not a feeling. It’s a fact; we’re competent enough.

That’s so freeing, isn’t it?
