Consider Israel

O God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture? Psalm 74:1

Asaph laments God’s rejection of Israel, but realizes it’s not permanent. It’s not permanent because Israel was God’s chosen people. Through the years the relationship was tumultuous. God promised Israel things, but Israel sinned greatly. He became angry with Israel, and they repented. More or less this cycle continued for thousands of years.

So when Asaph asked why God rejected them forever, it only seemed like forever! After God removes His hand of blessing from a nation, it probably seems like a curse.

Today as you consider what the nation of Israel must endure (hatred, vile treatment, and possible extinction from Iran) just to exist, pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. It’s abundantly clear that God still has His hand on that nation, but pity the day He removes it even for a day.
