Shout for joy to God, all the earth! Psalm 66:1

Is this verse a command or a suggestion? The earth does this already, and perhaps it’s commanded to do so. What if the earth and all its elements stopped shouting and singing for joy to God, what then?

Would we have wind, snow, rain, sleet, or even sunshine?

Would the heat be so stifling hot no one could stand it?

Would the earth itself cease rotating around the sun, and the moon around the Earth?

Would the waves stop splashing against the shores and the seas become stagnant?

It would seem that there is a lot riding on the earth being obedient to the Lord.

Or perhaps the earth just wants to give God the glory.
