2 But I have calmed and quieted myself,
I am like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child I am content.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord
both now and forevermore. Psalm 131:2-3
Contentment is something that is hard to define but you know it when you have it.
I define contentment as “not needing more.” We are satisfied with what we have.
When we put our hope and trust in God, we need nothing else to satisfy our souls. Even that is a satisfying statement.
Blaise Pascal was right when he said, “Everyone has a God-shaped vacuum within us.” Only God can fill that vacuum. Nothing the world throws our way – and there will be plenty of things – can change that.
Nothing.
