28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28

This was God’s command to populate the earth and take control of the animal kingdom. The interesting part of this verse to me is that God blessed those he created in His image – us. He didn’t say that about the animals, fish, birds, or plants. Of course the animal rights people wouldn’t agree with that statement, but the fact is, God made his human creation unique. We can think, feel, reason, and solve complex real-world problems. Because of the fall, we are able to commit heinous acts of violence, start wars, and cause many more problems than we’re worth. That’s the “risk” God took when He created us.
