Counting the Cost of Discipleship

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. Matthew 16:24-25

Jesus continues His teaching on what the disciples would need to go through as disciples.

The Christian life wasn’t merely “fire insurance” as preachers say, but a daily commitment to deny themselves and follow Jesus.

What does that mean exactly?

It means there is a societal, familial, and lifestyle “cost” to following Jesus.
It means we march to the beat of a very different drummer each day.
It means self is no longer on the throne of our lives.
It means serving others is a lifestyle change.
It means we need to reprogram our thinking to help transform our behavior.
It means our decision to follow Jesus is daily.

It ultimately means our life is not our own, we were bought with a price. 1 Corinthians 6:20

Amen?
