7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;
9 let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity. Psalm 98:7-9
The material world seems to exist in total harmony. Rivers, waves, trees, mountains, stars, and seas do what they’re supposed to do. They don’t stray from their designed purpose: to glorify God.
On the other hand, the human world possesses reason and intellect, but strays hundreds of miles from its designed purpose. Then they find themselves lost and confused, wandering about aimlessly, desperately seeking answers to very basic questions: “Why am I here?” “Is there more to life than this?” “Is there a God in heaven?”
The material world recognizes that they are not in control. They have one mission, one purpose, one passion – and they do it splendidly.
Humans overthink their mission and purpose. They even overthink God or try to explain Him away.
One day we will see God in all of His glory and He will judge the world. For the first time in our lives we’ll truly understand perfect justice and equity. We get a glimpse of that now, but only a glimpse.
For unbelievers, though, it will be a tragic day. They will realize how wrong they’ve been, but by then it will be too late. They will probably e shown the numerous opportunities they had that they flat out rejected. They may even be shown all the evil they’ve committed and why it was wrong. Yes, it will be a tragic day.
You probably know one or two of these kinds of people. Pray that the scales will fall from their eyes and that they’ll see the truth of their ways. Ask the Lord to be involved in an opportunity to share in your own way the Gospel message. You may be the only person in the world praying for that person. Take that to heart.
